Section B - The US Public TV stations:

Some schedule changes are coming to stations.

Iowa Public TV http://www.iptv.org is dropping the Sunday 6PM repeats of the Eccleston episodes after the 2nd run finishes on 15 and 16 September. The 3rd cycle will air Saturdays at 11:05PM. Classic Who remains at 12:05AM Late Saturday.

WLVT 39 Allentown, PA http://www.wlvt.org will air its 4th cycle of the Christopher Eccleston episodes late Saturdays at Midnight starting 22 September. 2 episodes per week. Episodes previously aired in a double header Sundays at 6PM.

KTEH/KCAH 54,25 San Jose/Monterey, CA http://www.kteh.org will air episodes Thursdays at 7PM and Saturdays at 10PM starting sometime in October. Currently episodes air Tuesdays at 8PM and 2AM, Saturdays at 11PM.

KUED 7 Salt Lake City, UT http://www.kued.org is dropping the Saturday 11PM broadcast of Who after Parting Of The Ways repeats on 22 September. For now a 3rd cycle of the series is set to air Sundays at 4PM starting 7 October with The End Of The World. I suspect they will either change that to Rose or pull the Sunday broadcasts between now and then.

Rocky Mountain PBS (Colorado) http://www.rmpbs.org will rest Doctor Who after the first cycle finishes on 28 September.

Maryland Public TV http://www.mpt.org is *not* airing the 3rd Series of new Doctor Who (with David Tennant and Freema Agyeman). It is only certain online listings guides that are showing this information. The Keeper of Traken is airing this weekend. Logopolis airs on the 22nd to finish the Tom Baker era, with pre-emptions on 15 and 29 September. The 29 September pre-emption is for an encore of the first half of the Ken Burns' miniseries The War, so Doctor Who will likely be bumped on 6 October for the 2nd half. Presumably either the Peter Davison episodes or a repeat of the Christopher Eccleston episodes would begin on 13 October.

As of this writing, 44 stations are known to have bought the 2005
series of Doctor Who (the 13 Christopher Eccleston episodes). The
episodes are airing as broadcast in the UK, with no content cuts* and
including next time trailers and uncrushed closing credits. Many of
the public TV stations have also gotten the Cut Down versions of
Doctor Who Confidential Series 1 (as seen on the DVD set). Stations
have the right to cycle through these episodes 4 times before
February 28, 2009.

*The US/Canadian master TV print for The Empty Child is missing a line of dialogue due to an early version being sent to the CBC by mistake. This was not deliberate and the scene is the same length as the correct version. Yes, the episode really was less than 42 minutes long. Every broadcast on the CBC, SciFi, BBC America, and US Public TV stations to date has been this version with the missing line. The DVD release has the correct version of the episode. It does not appear that there are any plans to correct the TV version of the episode.

If you are happy that your station is airing Doctor Who, write them a
letter or send them an e-mail. (Maybe even keep an eye out for a
pledge drive.)

If Series 2 and 3 become available to public TV stations, it will be after the episodes have aired on SciFi and BBC America. There is no public verifiable information about such episodes becoming available at this time.

4 Public TV stations currently have rights to air the classic Doctor Who run (1963-1989). WCET 48 Cincinnati, OH and Iowa Public TV are currently airing both the new series and Tom Baker episodes. KBTC 28 Tacoma, WA and Maryland Public TV are airing Tom Baker episodes while resting the new series.
